Overview of the Light Distribution Design and Application at Urban Road Intersections

I.Project Background

There were numerous lighting problems at traffic intersections before the renovation. In terms of illuminance, it was not only insufficient but also unevenly distributed, which seriously affected the lighting effect. Meanwhile, the effective utilization rate of lighting was at a relatively low level, and there was also the phenomenon of glare. These issues posed hidden dangers and risks to both motor vehicle drivers and pedestrians. They might cause the drivers’ sight to be blocked and lead to misjudgments, and also make pedestrians feel visually uncomfortable, increasing the possibility of traffic accidents.

II. Solutions

Green Lighting conducted research and development in response to the above situations and successfully developed a floodlight specifically for traffic intersections. This type of floodlight aims to address the pain points in the lighting of traffic intersections and fundamentally improve the lighting conditions.

III. Renovation Effects

After replacing the original lighting equipment with this floodlight, the lighting effect at the intersections has been significantly improved. In terms of energy consumption, it has been greatly reduced, with obvious energy-saving effects, which helps to lower operating costs and achieve energy conservation and emission reduction. Moreover, the stray light has been reduced, thereby lessening the impact of light pollution on the surrounding environment. In addition, during the on-site installation process, it is necessary to break through the traditional way of thinking and ensure that the floodlight reaches the optimal adjustment orientation through reasonable installation, so as to achieve the best lighting effect and minimize the negative impacts to the greatest extent.
